Monday 15th August: The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Assumption of Mary honours the fullness of blessedness that was her destiny, the glorification of her immaculate soul and virginal body that completely conformed her to the risen Christ.
This is a celebration that offers to the Church and all humanity an exemplar and a consoling message, teaching us the fulfilment of our highest hopes.
It is a Holy Day of Obligation and Masses are at the following times: Holyday Masses: Monday 15th August: 10.00am & 7.30pm in St Columba’s Church, Long Tower.
Mass at the Grotto –Monday 15th August at 6.00pm. Everyone is invited to join the local community and Fr. Baker at the Annual Mass in Our Lady’s Grotto, Lecky Road. A collection will be taken up after Mass for the upkeep of the grotto.

Accord Catholic Marriage Care Service seeking Marriage Preparation Programme Facilitators: Accord Catholic Marriage Care Service is currently recruiting volunteers to train as marriage preparation programme facilitators. Accord is seeking registration of interest from those who have a positive attitude towards marriage in the Catholic Church and the enthusiasm to be part of a team supporting couples who are preparing for the Sacrament of Marriage. World Youth Day Pilgrimage – Lisbon 2023; The Diocese of Derry is inviting any young person who is over 18 or will be 18 by July 2023 to join us on Pilgrimage to Lisbon for World Youth Day. World Youth Day (WYD) is the gathering of young people from all over the world with the Pope. This pilgrimage will take place in August 2023. For now, we are taking expression of interest until we have more information on dates, times and prices. We have limited space so signing up is essential. Foyle Hospice Volunteer Minibus Drivers Needed; This role will involve transporting patients to and from their homes to our Day Hospice. We are looking for someone who has a friendly and compassionate nature and can spare a few hours each week. The role will also require you to hold Category D1 on your driving licence and an Enhanced Access NI Check will be necessary.
