Derry Diocesan Vocations Week begins Saturday 17th April through to Good Shepherd Sunday, 25th April. The theme for this year’s Vocations Week is based on “Patris Corde” (‘With a Father’s Heart’), Pope Francis’ recent publication for the year of Saint Joseph. Parishioners are encouraged to participate in the schedule of daily prayer and Mass, as well as devotional reflections based on the Angelus, Daily Examen and the Mysteries of the Rosary. These resources will be available online at derrydiocese.org and derryvocations.org On the evenings of Monday 19th April – Friday 23rd April, Bishop Donal will host a series of interviews with guests from throughout the diocese discussing how they have answered God’s call to vocation. These twenty-minute interviews will be broadcast live online at 7pm, followed by a broadcast of the celebration of the Daily Examen. At 8pm, after evening Mass, Bishop Donal will lead the Rosary before concluding with night prayer. The live broadcasts can be viewed at derrydiocese.org and derryvocations.org.
Sister Claire Crockett Retreat
19-25th April 2021 in St Columba’s Church, Long Tower
The retreat begins in St Columba’s Church, Long Tower this Monday 19th April at 7.30 p.m., and closes on Sunday 25th April at 6.00pm with Mass being celebrated by Bishop Donal McKeown. Due to current restrictions admission to the retreat is by ticket only and has been fully booked. However, the retreat will be streamed live at http://longtowerchurch.org/webcam/ and on the Long Tower facebook page.
The Derry Diocesan Catechetical Centre, working in Partnership with Saint Mary’s University, Twickenham, offers the Masters in Catholic School Leadership. This is a post graduate degree dedicated to the professional development and spiritual formation of Catholic school leaders. It is a great opportunity for those currently in leadership roles and those who aspire to, or have an interest in, leadership roles within the Catholic School system. Centenary Celebrations for The Legion of Mary: As part of the centenary celebrations for the Legion of Mary, there will be a special Mass for the Legionaries of the diocese live-streamed from St. Theresa’s Church, Sion Mills, on Wednesday 28 April , at 7pm, Feast of Louis Marie de Montfort, the Saint who had such a major influence on Frank Duff that gave him the inspiration to set up the Legion of Mary for the first time, on 9 September 1921. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions, only a small number of representatives of the Parish Legions in Co Tyrone, will be able to attend. You are invited to participate in this Mass via the parish webcam, on http://melmountparish.com/sionwebcam.html . The Rosary along with the Legion of Mary Prayers will then be recited.
In Conversation with Sr Nathalie Becquart: Sr Nathalie Becquart will join the Catholic Chaplaincy at QUB live from Rome next Wednesday, 21 April at 7pm. Sr Natalie was appointed as undersecretary to the Synod of Bishops by Pope Francis earlier this year, becoming the first woman to hold this position in Church history.
