Padre Pio Intercede for Us
Padre Pio Mass for Healing in Mind & Body continues this Monday 1st May at 7.30pm Through the gift of this Mass we will unite in prayer with all who are ill, unwell, feeling isolated and struggling with the pressures of life. We pray to be surrounded by the light and warmth of God’s love to heal us at this time. We hope at the end of each Mass to give a Blessing using a 1st class relic of Padre Pio. The Mass will be streamed via our parish website: www.longtowerchurch.org then click on the link for the webcam or alternatively by logging on to www.churchmedia.tv Everyone is welcome to attend.
Anam og: There will be a special presentation at the 12.00pm Mass on Sunday 30th April in St Columba’s Church, Long Tower for all of our young people aged 10-14 inviting them to join Anam Og. A programme of faith, fun and accompaniment. Further information to follow.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament continues this Thursday 4th May, in St Columba’s Church, Long Tower from after the 7.30pm Mass until 12 Midnight. According to the Book of Lismore, a medieval manuscript, “Columbkille used, moreover, to go to Heaven every Thursday while he was alive”. Fr Willie Doherty translated this ‘quaint extract’ to mean that on Thursdays, St Columba was ‘more than usually fervent in his visits to the Blessed Sacrament’. During this time, we will gather with St Columba and all our ancestors who knelt and prayed where he knelt and prayed for all our families, particularly the sick, those suffering from mental health and living with addictions, for healing in our city and in reparation. All welcome to come and pray throughout the evening.
St. Eugene’s Cathedral, Derry: 150th Anniversary Celebrations: Sunday 30th April – Diocesan Mass will be celebrated in St Eugene’s Cathedral at 3.00pm. On Wednesday 3rd May there will be a blessing of a new statue of Blessed Carlo Acutis during the 10.00am Mass in St Eugene’s Cathedral. On Thursday 4th May at 7.30pm Bishop Mc Keown will celebrate Mass to mark the day the Cathedral was opened in 1873. Everyone is welcome to attend the Masses.
The Little Way Novena in honour of St Thérèse of Lisieux will be take place at St Eugene’s Cathedral from Saturday 6th May until Sunday 14th May 2023. The Novena begins with a Mass with the Anointing of the sick at 7.30pm on Saturday 6th May. This will be an opportunity to pray for a special intention and to ask St Thérèse to intercede for us. It is a time when many people find great joy and healing. All are very welcome.
Carmelite Retreat Centre Termonbacca: St. Peregrine Day Retreat –Wednesday 3rd May, 10am – 3pm. Cost for the day including light lunch £15. First class relic of St. Peregrine available for veneration on the day. Please bring a bottle of Olive Oil to have it blessed in honour of St. Peregrine. Holy Souls Retreat- On Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th May. Fr. Paul Denizot and Fr. Axel de Perthuis from the Fraternity of Our Lady of Montligeon in France, will lead a time of retreat and prayer for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. Beginning at 10am and ending at 4.30pm on Saturday. Beginning at 10am and ending at 1pm. on Sunday. This is a free (donation only) event. Those wishing to attend please bring a packed lunch. Cemetery Sunday: The Annual Service of Intercession for the Dead will take place in the City Cemetery on Sunday, 25th June 2023 at 3.00 pm.

The Holy Family Padre Pio Prayer Group will meet on Tuesday 2nd May at Holy Family Chapel, Ballymagroarty, Derry. Starting with the Holy Rosary at 18.45pm, Mass at 19.15pm, and novena to St. Pio directly afterwards. There will be a first-class relic available for veneration. All Welcome.

‘WHO IS SHE?’, a day- long Legion of Mary Conference takes place on Saturday 13th May, in the historic DCU Rooms, All Hallows Campus, Dublin. Holy Land Pilgrimage – QUB Alumni and Friends: The Catholic Chaplaincy at Queen’s University Belfast will lead a Pilgrimage to the Holy Land for alumni and friends. Anam Cara Donegal, the organisation that supports bereaved parents, is holding it’s monthly Parent Evening for bereaved parents on Thursday 11th May at 7:15pm in the Raddison Blu Hotel, Letterkenny Co.Donegal.
