A Royal Priesthood: “The entire Church, as the Body of Christ sharing in his priesthood, enacts the liturgy through him, with him, and in him. Such a vision of the Eucharist and the other sacraments challenges the baptised when they (or rather we) assemble for the Eucharist or the administration of the other sacraments. Do we consciously join with Christ our High Priest in worshipping God and praying for the needs of our suffering world?” Reference and further reading: The Spirituality of the Second Vatican Council By Gerald O’Collins SJ (Veritas)

Compassionate Communities is a partnership of local organisations working to improve the quality of life of people when living on the spectrum of a life-limiting illness, caregiving, death, dying and loss. With a person-centred approach we aim to improve end of life care by supporting those who wish to remain living in their own homes. Our ‘Reach Out’ scheme is recruiting volunteers to befriend someone who is experiencing isolation due to illness, death and bereavement. Could you give 1-2 hours a week to offer support and friendship to someone in their own home? No experience is needed as all volunteers receive comprehensive induction training, on-going training and monthly support. The next Volunteer Induction Training is Monday 23rd and 30th Sept at 9.30-2.30pm. Both days must be attended. Contact Leann on 07841101932 or email email@example.com for more information or visit our website www.compassionatecommunitiesnw.com.
