What the priest wears; The special cloth that the priest wears for mass are called vestments. There are three different pieces which he needs to put on. Over his ordinary clothes the priest puts on a white or cream coloured tunic called an alb. Then he puts on a long piece of coloured cloth which looks like a scarf and is called a stole. Over the alb and the stole he puts on his chasuble. The colour of the stole and the chasuble is very important. It tells us what season we are in or what special occasion we are celebrating in the church year. There are four main colours worn during the year: green, purple, red and white.

They have a joint vocation in facilitating Catholic School retreats across Ireland. Following completion of her PhD, Lynette developed and delivered healthy lifestyle programmes for young people with severe and enduring mental illness and was head of research at the NI Association for Mental Health. Currently self-employed Lynette continues to lecture part-time at UUJ, write for Ulster Herald sports column and deliver school retreat as well as being a full-time mum. “I myself shall give you an eloquence and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to resist or contradict.” To endure means to continue to exist under hardship or suffering – a strength embedded into the core of our hearts to help us survive this lifetime in spirit and body. At times, we will encounter experiences which will try to pull us apart and threaten our very existence and faith. It is in these times we are lovingly encouraged to go deeper – to drink from the infinite inner well of endurance -to find that peace and joy never leave us, He is always there in our hearts. As we go through the whirlpools of deception and pain let us keep the faith – feeling the gifts of eloquence and wisdom assisting our spirit through the opposing forces that try to engulf us. Place your trust in Him – for ‘your endurance will win you your lives.’ Reference and further reading: Luke 21:5-19
