Eucharist –The word “Eucharist” is another name for the Mass. It comes from a Greek word meaning “thanksgiving”. The whole Mass is a special prayer of thanksgiving for all that God has given us. Sometimes we use the word to describe the whole Mass and sometimes it is used to describe the Bread of Life. We also talk about the sacrifice of the Mass. This reminds us of the sacrifice that Jesus made for us when he suffered and died on the cross.
“And while he was praying, the aspect of His face changed.” Luke 9:29
Today we read how God made an agreement with our ancestors, a covenant that joined us to His divine kingdom, with the promise of guidance and protection for all. Over time some of us would become drawn to other places, becoming adrift from our real purpose. This story tells of our evolving relationship with God, and stirs a remembrance of our beginnings with a longing to return to this beautiful state of grace. In seeking ways to reach our goal, we find the power of prayer; a loving guide and support that helps us change the aspect of our heart. If we are truly committed to our transformation may we use every present moment to bind our spirit with His – uniting in the kingdom of our ancestors. Reference and further reading: Genesis 15:5-12,
