Fourth Sunday of Easter/ Vocations Sunday 12th May 2019
Holy Father’s Message for 2019 World Day of Vocations
The courage to take a risk for God’s promise
As with every call, the Gospel speaks of an encounter, it is the loving initiative whereby God encounters us and invites us to be part of a great undertaking. Every vocation is a summons to follow Jesus on the path he has marked out for us, for our own happiness and for the good of those around us. Responding to the Lord’s call involves putting ourselves on the line and facing a great challenge. We are called to be bold and decisive in seeking God’s plan for our lives. Such a decision carries the risk of leaving everything behind to follow the Lord, to devote ourselves completely to him, and to share in his work. Always remember, the Lord promises the joy of a new life that can fill our hearts and enliven our journey…, I ask each one of you: Do you see yourselves as bearers of a promise? What promise do I bear within my heart to take forward? Ask the Lord to help us discover his plan of love for our lives, and to grant us the courage to walk in the path he has chosen for each of us.

In Memory Programme
The ‘Do This In Memory’ Mass for those children who are celebrating their First Communion this year will take place this Sunday, 12th May at 12 noon.
Prayer after Communion. When everyone has received communion the priest will return to his chair and pray quietly for a few minutes. The choir may sing a song at this time. The priest then stands and prays the prayer after communion. During this prayer we pray that we can take what we have received during the Mass with us as we return to our daily lives. We also pray that we can use this to make a difference in our world.

The Seven Gifts
“And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.”
We join the disciples on this Sabbath Day to witness them overcoming jealousy and rejection through the ignorance of many – things we may have experienced in our own lives. In the midst of persecution they held firm to the truth that lay within their hearts – inspired by the gifts of wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord; given to them by the Holy Spirit. Their intense love and faith in the divine shepherd allowed them to guide us sheep to a place of shelter, to drink from the eternal waters of life – quenching our thirst and hunger for worldly happiness. May we too feel inspired to share the spiritual gifts that flow through our hearts – once again wearing the white robes of freedom as we arise to His call within our hearts.
