“Lord, I have let myself be deceived; in a thousand ways I have shunned your love, yet here I am once more, to renew my covenant with you. I need you. Save me once again, Lord, take me once more into your redeeming embrace.” Pope Francis
We all like to receive an invitation, it fills us with excitement and anticipation as it welcomes us to share in the joy of a special event. Today Pope Francis sends us a divine invitation, in fact, it feels like a challenge! His unsealed request is sent to everyone, with no exclusions – to take part in a ‘renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ, or at least an openness to letting him encounter us.’ He suggests the above prayer be said unfailingly every day – you may find writing it on a notelet or device helps as a reminder. May we feel the renewed joy of Jesus’s presence in our hearts, for ‘the Lord does not disappoint those who take this risk.’ References and further reading: Evangelii Gaudium – The Joy of the Gospel
